Dog Grooming Services

Your dog will be bathed  using shampoo that suits his or her coat or skin. If necessary a conditioner may be used. He or she will then be dried using special absorbent towels and dog grooming dryers. Once dry, he or she will be thoroughly brushed and the coat clipped or scissor trimmed as required.  Ear cleansing, face tidy, pad trim, hygiene and nail clip are all included in the groom if required.

Each dog is unique and has different grooming needs so it isn't possible to give an exact price until we've met.  Size, when he or she was last groomed by a qualified groomer, condition and length of coat and temperament may all contribute to the final price.

As a guide, if your dog is on a regular grooming schedule, doesn't come in matted and doesn't have any temperament issues then full groom prices are:

• Toy/extra small - from £40
• Small - from £48
• Medium and poodle mixes - from £55

For dogs with very short coats that don't require clipping or slightly longer coats that need a minimal amount of brushing.  Ear cleanse, pad trim, claw clip and hygiene trim are included.

As a guide, if your dog is on a regular grooming schedule, doesn't come in matted and doesn't have any temperament issues then full groom prices are:

• Small - from £38
• Medium - from £45

This is suitable as an interim groom  for those dogs with longer coats or if the coat is short and you'd like it longer.  This includes all elements of the "Wash and Go" plus a full brush out.

Suitable for puppies that have been fully vaccinated up to the age of 6 months.  It is important to get your puppy used to the grooming process as soon as they are able. Puppy packages are bespoke and adapted to suit your puppy.  Some may take 3 or 4 sessions and others may need more time to get used to the process.  I will never go beyond what your puppy can cope with on the day.  Sessions can be repeated as many times as required.

Example package:

Session 1 will be a short 30 session visit to give your puppy time to get used to being with me.   Puppy will be given time to sniff around and we'll have some play time and plenty of love.  We'll have some time where puppy gets used to standing on the grooming table and in the bath.   I'll do some brushing and may include trimming around eyes, hygiene area and nails.

Session 2 includes more brushing, cleaning the ears if needed, trim around the feet and introduction of some of the sounds and the feel of equipment (30 - 40 mins)

Session 3 is puppy's first bath, dry and pad trim (45 mins - 1 hr)

Session 4:  All elements of sessions 1 - 3 (1 1/4 - 1 1/2 hrs)

As puppy packages are bespoke, the cost will vary:

3 sessions: £85

4 sessions: £99

Hopefully puppy will be ready to progress to the first full groom after 4 sessions.  Any additional sessions will be charged at £25 each

Handstripping is a traditional method of grooming wire coated dogs such as border terriers and schnauzers. Dead coat is physically pulled out from the root by hand or with the aid of a stripping knife instead of being clipped.  Clipping removes the top layer of the coat only.  Handstripping helps preserve the correct coat texture and has the following benefits:

• Prevents skin problems caused by moisture and humidity
• Thins out the coat to levels that are suitable to the season and living environment
• Keeps the original appearance of the dog’s coat
• Keeps the original texture of the coat. Wire coated dogs have a top coat that is coarse and waterproof, and a denser undercoat that provides warmth. 

Handstripping is usually done twice a year but this depends on the condition of your dog’s coat. Some dogs may benefit from being stripped more often than others.
